“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” Jim Rohn
The husband and wife team of Ryan and Danielle Bate, owners of South County Boot Camp for Women, teach us that yes indeed fitness can be fun! Their holistic approach to wellness helps their campers heal on more than just the physical level, “this is more than a workout it’s a lifestyle.” Ryan states “we’re trying to build these people up”. Danielle adds “we see some women come in with extremely low self esteem and leave ecstatic about what she just completed over the past 4 weeks.” This group fitness experience not only builds confidence but camaraderie and a sense of community. Research has revealed that when we stay connected to friends and family it increases our longevity and decreases loneliness and the rate of heart disease. We discuss the top 5 health concerns for women and steps they can take to prevent and diminish the impact of these illnesses. “physical activity and nutrition go hand in hand when it comes to making changes.” Even though Ryan and Danielle are practicing vegans and can identify a plethora of personal benefits of a plant based diet, “we do not push the lifestyle on anybody.” Ryan educates us about the most effective ways for anyone to lose and maintain a healthy weight, “if you focus putting your time into the nutrition aspect and physical activity everything else is going to come together.” Our thoughts and attitude are crucial to our well being. Ryan states “if you tell yourself you can’t do something I guarantee you won’t ever do it. Negativity needs to change.” Ryan and Danielle lead by example and always try to be positive and remain present in the moment.
